The City Boy Movement (CBM) has inaugurated its Lagos State Executive Council, charging the new leadership to intensify grassroots mobilisation and deepen public engagement with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Lagos, the Director-General of the movement, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, described the event as a major milestone in the organisation’s nationwide expansion.
He said the City Boy Movement was established to bridge the gap between government and citizens by promoting civic participation, youth engagement and community development.
Shoga urged the newly inaugurated executive members to ensure that government policies, programmes and opportunities reached ordinary Nigerians, particularly youths, women, students, artisans, farmers and small business owners.
According to him, the movement would also serve as a platform through which communities could communicate their needs, concerns and aspirations to government.
“We are not mere observers of these reforms. We are ambassadors of hope and partners in progress. Our duty is to ensure that government policies and opportunities reach the grassroots, while also providing a platform for the voices and aspirations of the people to be heard,” he said.
The Director-General commended the movement’s Patron, Barrister Seyi Tinubu, for his commitment to youth development and leadership, while expressing confidence in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
He cited ongoing interventions in infrastructure, education, agriculture, social investment, economic reforms and security as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national development, adding that the movement would continue to sensitise Nigerians on government programmes and opportunities.
Shoga reminded the newly inaugurated officials that their appointments were a call to service rather than positions of privilege, urging them to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, discipline, humility and accountability.
He also directed the state executive to expand the movement’s structures across all local government areas, local council development areas (LCDAs), wards, polling units and communities in Lagos State, stressing that leadership should be measured by its impact on the lives of the people.
Earlier, the Lagos State Director of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, described the inauguration as another significant step in the organisation’s nationwide growth.
He said the movement was founded on the principles of national unity, responsible leadership, discipline, solidarity and service, with the objective of empowering young Nigerians to participate actively in democratic governance and national development.
Ogunlewe explained that the organisation promotes civic education, voter participation, leadership development, skills acquisition and community service, while supporting policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.
According to him, the Lagos chapter would adopt a grassroots strategy focused on communities, wards and polling units to strengthen public participation in governance and encourage responsible citizenship.
He added that the movement remained committed to fostering unity across ethnic, religious and regional divides while nurturing a new generation of leaders capable of contributing to Nigeria’s long-term development.
Ogunlewe called on members to uphold the values of discipline, unity, integrity and selfless service as they work to strengthen the organisation’s presence across Lagos State.
The inauguration was attended by the movement’s Co-Patron, Shettima Jnr.; National Secretary, Hon. Tosin Odufuwa; members of the national leadership; deputy directors-general; the Lagos State Director; and members of the newly inaugurated state executive.
