The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, has congratulated the Executive Director of the Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) and Chairman of the Abia State Disability Commission, Hon. David Obinna Anyaele, on the award of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at the 15th Postgraduate Convocation and Doctor of Philosophy Hooding Ceremony of Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.
In a congratulatory message, Abba Isa described the academic achievement as a well-deserved recognition of Anyaele’s unwavering commitment to scholarship, disability rights advocacy and inclusive development in Nigeria.
The Presidential aide commended Anyaele for his decades of dedicated service to advancing the rights, dignity and welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), noting that his contributions have significantly shaped Nigeria’s disability inclusion landscape.
He recalled Anyaele’s pivotal role, alongside other founding advocates and patriots, in the successful campaign for the enactment of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2018, as well as the subsequent establishment of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).
According to Abba Isa, Anyaele’s latest academic milestone is a testament to his passion for knowledge and excellence, expressing confidence that the doctorate degree would further strengthen his capacity to provide thought leadership, influence policy and champion greater inclusion for Persons with Disabilities across Nigeria and beyond.
He prayed that God would grant the renowned disability rights advocate long life, good health, greater wisdom and many more years of impactful service to humanity.
Abba Isa wished Dr. Anyaele continued success in his academic, professional and advocacy endeavours, while urging him to remain steadfast in his commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable society.
