The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Mohammed Abba Isa, has emerged as the winner of the prestigious Senior Special Assistant of the Year category at the 100 Most Influential Progressives 2026 Awards.
The recognition was conveyed in an official notification issued by the Editorial Board of The Progressives Magazine and the Organizing Committee of the 100 Most Influential Progressives initiative, following what organizers described as a rigorous, data-driven selection process.
According to the organizers, the award process assessed nominees based on public service impact, advocacy for inclusion, policy engagement, leadership visibility, grassroots influence, accessibility initiatives, and commitment to people-centered governance.
The committee noted that Mohammed Abba Isa distinguished himself among several notable personalities within Nigeria’s progressive political and governance space through his sustained advocacy for Persons With Disabilities and marginalized communities.
The statement further revealed that his emergence followed a highly competitive nationwide public voting exercise hosted on the official awards platform, where Nigerians overwhelmingly voted in recognition of his contributions to inclusive governance and equal opportunity advocacy.
Organizers specifically commended his efforts in promoting accessibility, amplifying marginalized voices, and championing policies aimed at advancing dignity, social inclusion, and equal opportunities for persons with special needs across the country.
The award body stated that the recognition reflects growing public appreciation for leaders who combine empathy, advocacy, and effective public service in strengthening democratic inclusion and national development.
The 100 Most Influential Progressives initiative, according to the organizers, is designed to celebrate impactful leadership, promote good governance, and serve as a strategic mobilization platform ahead of the 2027 political season for the All Progressives Congress.
The award ceremony is scheduled to hold on Friday, June 26, 2026, while formal invitations and additional event details are expected to be communicated to award recipients in due course.
The Editorial Board of The Progressives Magazine congratulated Mohammed Abba Isa on what it described as a remarkable milestone and expressed optimism about his continued contributions toward advancing inclusive governance and national development.
