… Gives reasons Gbaja, Akume, others should be fired

As the nation awaits a potential cabinet reshuffle under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Jackson Lekan-Ojo, has made a bold call for a complete overhaul of the current federal cabinet.
The Global Affairs Analyst and APC Chieftain urged the President to sack almost all his current ministers, except for two whom he believes have performed well: the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Chief Lekan-Ojo emphasized that the current administration has fallen short of public expectations despite the large number of appointees in the cabinet. “We thought that all these over-bloated appointments would lead to better governance for Nigerians, but there is little to show for it,” he said.

He described the government as “an over-bloated cabinet but under-performing administration.”
While he praised both Tunji-Ojo and Wike for their strong performance, he also warned that Wike should be cautious in his approach to governance, particularly given his reputation for being confrontational. “Wike has performed well, but the President should caution him because of his troublemaking,” Lekan-Ojo added.
In his view, the reshuffling of ministers alone will not address the deeper issues Nigeria faces. He stressed that most of the current ministers have failed to make significant contributions to the administration and that their roles in government should now come to an end.

“I don’t think more than two ministers deserve to retain their positions,” he declared. “The rest, if they must be compensated for their roles in the election, should be given ambassadorial appointments to places like Afghanistan, Iraq, Niger Republic, Ukraine, or Russia.”
Chief Lekan-Ojo also called for the removal of key figures beyond the ministerial cabinet. He criticized the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, for his lack of impact, stating that Akume “has been so quiet and has refused to inject any new policies into the government.”
He suggested that Akume be replaced and, if necessary, be given the role of APC National Chairman to appease agitations from the North Central region.
Additionally, the APC Chieftain took aim at the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, stating that he has not added any meaningful value to the administration. “This is not compensatocracy,” Lekan-Ojo said, alluding to what he perceives as an undue focus on rewarding political allies. “Most of the special advisers should go, too.”
Chief Lekan-Ojo’s comments reflect growing dissatisfaction within political circles about the effectiveness of Tinubu’s cabinet.
His outspoken stance has ignited further debate about the future direction of the administration and the urgent need for reforms to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
