Supreme Court Verdict: You can appeal to God if not satisfied, APC chieftain tells Atiku, Obi

By Lanre Oloyede

Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Jackson Lekan-Ojo, has called on the presidential candidates of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party,LP, Peter Obi, to accept the verdict of the supreme Court which affirm the election of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in good faith, or otherwise appeal to God if not satisfied.

Speaking to Nigerian Pilot while reacting to the outcome of the appeal filed by both candidates at the apex court challenging the decision of the presidential election petition court which earlier affirmed Tinubu’s victory in February 2023 presidential poll, the APC chieftain, noted that the supreme Court being the apex court of the land has the final say on any litigation brought before it and there’s nothing anybody can do to challenge it.

He advised Atiku and Obi to go and prepare to contest again in 2027.

The supreme court had on Thursday dismissed the appeal filed by both Atiku and Obi to challenge the election of Tinubu as president of Nigeria for lack of merit.

Delivering the unanimous judgment, the seven justices of the supreme court led by Justice John Okoro, held that both Atiku and Obi could not prove that they scored higher votes that the ones allotted to Tinubu by the Independent National Electoral Commision, INEC.

Chief Lekan-Ojo said: ” The supreme Court has made the final pronouncement, and whichever way anybody looks at it, we cannot begin to fault the supreme Court because that is the apex Court of the land, so whichever way the things go.

“Like I’ve always told people, the supreme Court will not work based on sentiments or sympathy, you have to make sure you prepare yourself and prepare your case beyond reasonable doubt.

“Recently, I advised Atiku on another platform, Atiku can go as far as Chicago State University to go and bring the best of their officials to come and testify, but if they just rely on a document, that document may not be valuable in Nigeria

” I think Atiku and Obi should continue to work together, they should prepare for 2027 or if they are not satisfied they should appeal to God.”
