SSAP, Hon Abba Isa Wins US President’s Gold Volunteer Service Award

Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, has been honoured with United States President’s Gold Volunteer Service Award.

The Award, initiated by AmeriCorps, was in recognition and appreciation for Hon. Abba Isa ‘s commitment to strengthen the American nation and communities through volunteer service.

According to the organizers, the Award is given to honour and celebrate individuals who have contributed 561 hours of volunteer service to the great American nation.

A statement issued by the White House, Washington noted that the Senior aide to President Tinubu has contributed immensely to public good through his meritorious selfless community service in United States.


The statement read in parts: “The American story depends not on any one of us, not on some of us, but on all of as. I congratulate you on taking it upon yourself to contribute to the public good, and I’m proud to present you with the President’s Gold Volunteer Service award in recognition of your 561 hours of service to this great Nation.

“Throughout our country’s history, the American story has been strengthened by those who combine an optimism about what can be with the resilience to turn that vision into reality.

“I know I’m not alone in recognizing that those who are willing to step up and volunteer in service of community and country are essential to the ongoing work of forming our more perfect umon.

“By sharing your time and pasion, you are helping discover and deliver solutions to the challenges we face – solutions that we need now more than ever. We are living in moment that calls for hope and light and love. Hope for our futures, light to see our way forward, and love for one another. Through your service, you are providing all three.

“On behalf of the American people, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to you for your volunteer leadership, and | encourage you to continue to answer the call to serve. The country is counting on you.”

This Awards is another addition to the growing catalogue of honours and awards received by the Senior Special Assistant to the President.

Recall that last year, Hon. Abba Isa was honoured with The United States President Joe Biden’s President’s Volunteer Service Multiple Awards in recognition of his unparalleled contributions to Disablity and Women inclusion advocacy nationally and internationally.

The SSAP also bagged a Lifetime Multiple Great Achievements & Legacies Award as Disability/Women Inclusive Global Advocate, Icon, Legend & Champion of Nigeria’s Barriers Breakers of SDGs, 2030 Agenda Heroes & Men of Distinctions.

The Awards, which was presented by Equal Rights for Persons With Disabilities International Inc and FESTAC-USA Inc, was given in commemoration of the 5th year Anniversary of signing into law of the Discrimimation Against Persons with Disabitities (Prohibition)} Act 2018 which comes up on January 23, 2024.

In November, 2023, the Senior Presidential aide won the Inspirational Leader of the year award at the Leadership Excellent Awards (LEEX 2023) organized by Igbere TV.

Same year, he was equally honoured with Disabilty Inclusion and Accessibility Leadership Award in recognition of his enourmous contributions to the struggle that led to the enactment and signing into law of the Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2018 by Project Enable Africa.

Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa is a distinguished champion of persons with disabilities with over a decade of experience in local and international advocacy on matters concerning persons with disabilities.

A man with a heart of gold, a strong love for humanity and desire to see the vulnerable and less privileged live a decent life.
