SSAP Abba Isa Receives Executive Secretary, NCPWD, Lalu, As Both Leaders Resolves on Partnership, Collaboration

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon Mohammed Abba Isa, Wednesday received in audience the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons With Disabilities, NCPWD, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

The visit to the Senior Presidential aide underscores a pivotal moment in advancing the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities within the nation as both leaders in the disability community had meaningful engagement on fostering strategic partnership and collaboration on impacting the lives of PWDs.

The object of their engagement was multifaceted, aiming to explore potential areas of collaboration between the

Office of the SSAP on Disability Affairs and the Commission.

According to Hon. Abba Isa, collaboration is crucial for ensuring a coordinated and effective approach to addressing the diverse needs of PWDs across various sectors. 

The Presidential aide stressed that by leveraging their respective expertise, resources, and networks, both entities can implement comprehensive policies and programs that promote the inclusion and empowerment of PWDs, aligning with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Asiwa’’u Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. 

Moreover, the visit served as a reaffirmation of the commitment of both organizations to championing the issues affecting PWDs, demonstrating unwavering support for their rights and dignity. This commitment fosters a culture of inclusivity and accessibility within society

Discussions during the meeting likely covered a wide range of topics, including policy development, advocacy and awareness, capacity building, accessibility, and data collection and monitoring. Collaborating on these fronts will enhance the capacity of relevant stakeholders to address the needs of PWDs and mainstream disability issues into their agendas and activities. 

The courtesy visit signifies a significant step forward in the collective effort to advance the rights, well-being, and participation of PWDs in national development processes. By fostering collaboration and reaffirming commitment, both the National Commission for PWDs and the Office of the SSAP on Disability Affairs are poised to make tangible strides towards building a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
