In a resounding display of commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, over 50 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) benefitted from an impactful program organized by the Ayubson Life Foundation in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities in Abuja.

The event, which took place on Friday, brought together over 50 PWDs, aged 14 and above, to celebrate their unique abilities and provide a platform for them to shine. The program aimed to create a memorable and inclusive experience, recognizing the diverse talents and contributions of all individuals.

Through a series of engaging activities, motivational speeches, and performances, the initiative sought to reinforce the message that disability is not inability, while providing a platform for PWDs to showcase their talents and feel valued within the community.

Delivering the keynote address, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, represented by his Director Media and Communications, Mr. Lanre Oloyede, commended the Ayubson Life Foundation for their dedication to uplifting PWDs.

The Senior presidential aide emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which prioritizes inclusivity and equal opportunities for all Nigerians.

The SSAP stated that: “This initiative is not only commendable but deeply impactful, as it reinforces the importance of equal opportunities and the boundless potential within every individual.

“It aligns perfectly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which is steadfast in ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind.”

He further emphasized that the Tinubu administration believes true national development can only be achieved when every citizen—regardless of their abilities—is given the chance to contribute meaningfully to society.

“That is why we support programs like this that promote inclusivity, empower PWDs, and create avenues for them to thrive. We strongly encourage other organizations, corporate bodies, and well-meaning individuals to follow this exemplary initiative. By coming together to support and empower PWDs, we are not just helping individuals—we are building a more just, equitable, and progressive nation.”

A Platform for Empowerment and Inclusion

According to the organizers, A Night to Shine is more than just an event; it is a movement aimed at creating an inclusive society where every individual, regardless of their physical or cognitive limitations, is given the opportunity to thrive. The program reflects Ayubson Life Foundation’s unwavering commitment to promoting equal opportunities and highlighting the contributions of PWDs in nation-building.

Call for Collaboration

Hon. Abba Isa reiterated the openness of his office to partnerships and collaborations with individuals, organizations, and institutions committed to advancing disability inclusion, empowerment, and rights protection in Nigeria.

“It is only through collective efforts that we can dismantle barriers, create sustainable opportunities, and ensure that Persons with Disabilities live with dignity and fulfillment,” he stated.

Addressing the beneficiaries, he urged them to seize the empowerment opportunities presented at the event, develop their skills, and actively contribute to their communities.

“You are not just participants in an event—you are role models, change-makers, and valuable members of our society,” he concluded.

Ayubson Life Foundation: Championing Disability Rights

In his opening remarks, the Founder and Director of Ayubson Life Foundation, Mr. Yusuf Ayuba, reaffirmed the foundation’s mission of celebrating, supporting, and empowering the less privileged, particularly individuals with disabilities.

“It is with great joy that we gather here to celebrate the remarkable spirit and resilience of persons with disabilities. Today, we come together not only to recognize their unique abilities but also to extend our hand in support and solidarity,” he said.

Ayuba emphasized that the foundation is not just about raising awareness but actively championing inclusivity and empowerment for PWDs to achieve self-reliance.

“Disability does not mean inability,” he stated, underscoring that people with disabilities possess unique strengths and abilities despite their challenges.

A Night of Celebration and Recognition

The event featured interactive activities, inspiring stories from individuals with disabilities, health talks, and thrilling performances that showcased the talents of PWDs.

The highpoint of the evening was the crowning of Miss. Chioma Obi Jude as the Queen of the Year (For Being The Most Courageous PWD), in recognition of her resilience and contributions to disability advocacy. Gifts were also presented to participants, further emphasizing the event’s commitment to uplifting and celebrating PWDs.

As the night came to a close, the atmosphere was one of renewed hope, motivation, and determination. The collaboration between the SSAP’s Office and Ayubson Life Foundation has once again demonstrated that with the right support, PWDs can shine, thrive, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
