Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, has extended his warmest congratulations to Mr. Haruna Muhammad Tsafe on his election as the President of the Nigerian National Association of the Deaf (NNAD).
In a congratulatory statement issued by his Director of Media and Communications, Lanre Oloyede, the Senior Presidential Aide praised Mr. Tsafe’s emergence from a closely contested election, noting that it reflects the confidence the deaf community has in his leadership.
Hon. Abba Isa highlighted Mr. Tsafe’s consistent dedication to advocating for the rights and welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), particularly those within the deaf community, describing him as a “staunch advocate” whose experience and passion are both commendable.
The SSAP reiterated his office’s commitment to collaborating with the new NNAD leadership to ensure the fulfillment of the aspirations of the deaf community.
The Senior Special Assistant expressed confidence that Mr. Tsafe’s presidency would bring monumental changes, not only within the NNAD but also in the broader disability rights movement in Nigeria.
He further emphasized that Mr. Tsafe’s tireless advocacy for the deaf community and his deep understanding of their unique challenges would contribute to significant progress during his tenure.
“Your election as NNAD President is a testament to the trust and faith that the deaf community has placed in you. We believe that your vision and leadership will steer the association toward greater advocacy, inclusion, and progress for all,” the statement read.
“The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities is truly pleased with your emergence and remains ready to work closely with you in advancing your mandate. We are committed to offering you the necessary support to ensure equal opportunities for all,” he added.

Your emergence is a monumental step forward for the association and the deaf community at large. We are confident that your expertise will bring about significant positive change and progress.”
The statement concluded with a renewed call for cooperation and collaboration, as the SSA’s office pledged to work closely with Mr. Tsafe and the NNAD to advance policies, initiatives, and programs that would uplift the deaf community and ensure their inclusion in national development.
