Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, has commended Borno State governor, His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, for his remarkable milestone achievement and unwavering commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities which he demonstrated by offering employment to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the state.
In a statement by his Director Media and Communications, Lanre Oloyede, the Senior Presidential aide to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stated that Governor Zulum’s recent approval of employment for 15 PWDs who have undergone formal educational systems and obtained bachelor’s degree certificates, NCEs, diplomas, and vocational training certificates is not just a mere act of kindness; but rather a testament to his dedication to creating a society where every individual, regardless of their abilities, is given the chance to thrive and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Hon. Abba Isa noted that Governor Zulum stands out among others in the Northeast region as a beacon of hope to the vulnerables and less privileged in the society, adding that his gesture is worthy of emulation by other state governors.
The SSAP further noted that Governor Zulum’s decision to comply with the provision of the Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities (Prohibition Act) and the inclusive policy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a testament to his commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of PWDs.
He stressed that by embracing inclusivity and diversity, Governor Zulum is not only fulfilling his duty as a leader but also paving the way for a more equitable and just society.

Hon. Abba Isa said: “The last time I visited the state with the wife of the president to launch the Renewed Hope Initiative Women Agricultural Support Program focusing on support for women in agriculture and persons with disabilities in the North-East geo-political zone held in Maiduguri, Borno State, I pleaded with the governor to consider employing PWDs in compliance with the National Disability law and he promised me to do so. This is promise kept.
“He is one of the few governors in the Northeast who empowers PWDs more than any other governor. His actions exemplify true leadership and compassion, setting a commendable example for his counterparts across the nation.
“Furthermore, Governor Zulum’s decision to comply with the provision of the Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities (Prohibition Act) and the inclusive policy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a testament to his commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of PWDs. By embracing inclusivity and diversity, Governor Zulum is not only fulfilling his duty as a leader but also paving the way for a more equitable and just society.
“Governor Zulum’s leadership sets a shining example for other governors to emulate. His proactive approach to inclusivity and empowerment serves as a reminder that progress is possible when we prioritize the needs of every citizen, leaving no one behind.”
