In continuation of the ongoing phased distribution of rice palliatives to Persons With Disabilities, the vulnerables and People with Special Needs, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, will this Saturday commence distribution of the palliatives to beneficiaries in the Northeast geo-political zone of the country, precisely in Yobe State.
Recall that Hon. Abba Isa on May 23 performed the official flag off of the distribution of the rice palliatives to beneficiaries begining with the North-Central zone in Karu, Nasarawa State where over 1000 PWDs households beneficiaries got 10kg bag of rice each along with cash support, exceeding the initial target of 500 households.

Additionally, the SSAP has initiated distribution of the palliatives within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to various stakeholders, ensuring that the assistance reaches all intended beneficiaries.
According to the Senior Presidential aide, this unprecedented initiative led by the office Senior Special Assistant to the President on special needs and equal Opportunities was targeted at providing essential support to at least 500 PWD households by ensuring they have access to necessary food supplies, while adding that the distribution will be done in the six geo-political zones in the country beginning with the North-Central, North-East, Northwest and from there, the distribution will move to the Southern part of the country.
According to Hon Abba Isa, about 2000 beneficiaries are being targeted in the Northeast because the region has the highest number of Persons With Disabilities as a result of the Boko-haram insurgency, stressing that the number of IDPs and vulnerable groups in the Northeast has skyrocketed as a result of the onslaught of the terrorist group.
The presidential aide noted that aside from PWDs other vulnerable groups such as the widows, IDPs, orphans and other under-priviledged people shall benefit from the Palliatives.
