Reflecting on recent events, the SSAP recalled hosting the Paralympic team in Abuja in September, where they were celebrated upon their return from Paris.

Recall that the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, had also recognized their achievements at a reception held at the State House, marking a new wave of national support for the team.

The Lagos gala, the presidential aide noted, serves as yet another testament to the nation’s pride in these athletes.

In his address, Hon. Abba Isa highlighted the resilience and determination of Nigeria’s Paralympians, noting that, despite challenges and limited resources, they have consistently exceeded expectations.

“Even when their able-bodied counterparts might fall short, they return with medals and smiles, lifting our spirits and uniting us in pride,” he stated, commending them for showing that there is indeed “ability in disability.”

The SSAP further acknowledged the challenges these athletes face and reassured them of the federal government’s commitment to support their endeavors.

He shared that he has recommended them for national honors, a recognition he hopes will materialize soon.

“You are the embodiment of hope, courage, and resilience. By your example, you remind us all that the human spirit is boundless,” he said, affirming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing support for Paralympians.

The evening concluded with the presidential aide calling on the National Sports Commission to prioritize early preparation and support for future events, stressing the importance of comprehensive training and resources to help Nigerian athletes maintain their competitive edge.

“Our athletes deserve the best resources, training, and support to ensure they are in top shape, ready to bring home even more medals,” he emphasized.

Hon. Abba Isa’s message resonated with the audience, reflecting the pride and admiration the country holds for its Paralympians.

He closed his remarks by urging the athletes to keep lifting the Nigerian flag high, not only as sports champions but as symbols of hope and inspiration for all.
