The All Progressives Congress (APC) Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Support Network in Cross Rivers State has expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Victor Abang, the representative of Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, for his unwavering commitment to the empowerment and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in his constituency.
In a heartfelt message, Comr Bisong Ignatius Omang, Coordinator of the APC PWDs Support Network, Cross River State Chapter, and National Secretary of the National Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities (NAPWPD), lauded Hon. Abang for his impactful contributions toward improving the lives of PWDs.

Omang highlighted that Hon. Abang’s efforts have significantly transformed the socio-economic landscape for many individuals with disabilities in Ikom and Boki Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Cross River State.
The Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, home to over 300,000 residents, has a considerable population of PWDs who have long faced challenges in accessing basic amenities and participating in socio-economic activities. However, since Hon. Abang’s emergence as the representative of the constituency in the National Assembly, the narrative has shifted dramatically. His initiatives have fostered a more inclusive environment where PWDs can thrive.

One of the flagship programs initiated by Hon. Abang is the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency Disability Empowerment Scheme. This scheme provides financial support and training to PWDs, enabling them to start small businesses and become self-reliant. The initiative has empowered numerous PWDs, helping them establish their own businesses, earn a stable income, and contribute to the constituency’s economic growth.
In addition to economic empowerment, Hon. Abang has also prioritized educational support for PWDs. He has awarded scholarships to students with disabilities, ensuring they have access to quality education and the opportunity to fulfill their aspirations. This commitment to education has not only improved academic outcomes for many but has also instilled hope for a brighter future among the PWD community.

Furthermore, Hon. Abang has been a vocal advocate for the rights of PWDs, both locally and nationally. He has organized sensitization programs and funded initiatives aimed at raising awareness about the importance of inclusion and the need to create a barrier-free environment for PWDs. His efforts have led to a significant improvement in the acceptance and treatment of PWDs within the constituency.
In recognition of his tireless advocacy and dedication, Hon. Abang was honored with the “Most Accessible Legislator” award by the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Boki Chapter in 2019. This accolade underscores his commitment to fostering an inclusive society where PWDs can participate fully and equally in all aspects of life.

Comr Bisong Ignatius Omang concluded his message by emphasizing the positive impact of Hon. Abang’s efforts on the lives of PWDs in Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency. He expressed the PWD community’s deep appreciation for Hon. Abang’s selfless service and pledged their continued support for his initiatives aimed at creating an inclusive society for all.
The APC PWD Support Network, alongside other stakeholders in the disability community, remains committed to working with Hon. Abang to ensure that the gains made in PWD empowerment are sustained and expanded, benefiting even more individuals across the constituency
