As Nigerians celebrates the country’s 64th independence anniversary, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon Mohammed Abba Isa, has assured the over 35.1 millions Nigerians with Disabilities of a future full of hope and promises.
In a special address released to commemorate the day, the Senior presidential aide noted that though Nigeria’s journey has been rough and tough, and have faced obstacles that tested our resilience, but like the strong, diverse nation that we are, we have overcome countless challenges.
In the message tagged ‘Message of Hope’, the SSAP stated that with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we are charting a new course for Nigeria—a course that includes every Nigerian, regardless of physical ability.
“This administration understands that inclusivity is not just a choice, but a necessity. That is why we have placed special focus on ensuring equal opportunities for all Nigerians, particularly PWDs, in the areas of education, employment, healthcare, and social integration,” he stated further.
Hon Abba Isa explained that the economic challenges faced by Persons with Disabilities are being addressed with strategic reforms that will shape a more inclusive Nigeria, adding that we are already witnessing significant progress in the implementation of the National Disability Act and the establishment of more programs aimed at empowering our community.
“Yes, the journey may have been long and difficult, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. We are building a future where PWDs have access to dignified work, quality education, and the freedom to contribute to the growth of this nation without barriers,” the presidential aide stated.
Part of the statement reads further: “As we celebrate 64 years of independence, let us remind ourselves that our strength lies in our unity and diversity. Together, we will overcome whatever difficulties lie ahead and create a better Nigeria for ourselves and future generations. The *Renewed Hope Agenda* is a beacon of that brighter tomorrow.
“To every Person with Disability listening today, know that your government is committed to your success, your empowerment, and your inclusion in all facets of national life. The future may come with its challenges, but together, we are more than capable of turning them into opportunities.
“God bless Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria, God bless President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
