The high-profile event, which took place in Abuja, showcased the commitment of both the AAP and the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President (SSAP) to ensuring that accessibility becomes a core component of Nigeria’s social and physical landscape.
This move marks a significant step forward in the implementation of Nigeria’s National Disability Act and the promotion of disability inclusion and accessibility across the nation.
The partnership between the two entities is poised to drive policy changes and increase the visibility of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in public life.

A Visionary Mandate
In his inaugural speech, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa emphasized the importance of accessibility in achieving full inclusion for PWDs in Nigeria.
The Senior presidential aide noted that it is impossible to achieve inclusion without accessibility, stressing that accessibility leads to participation, and participation results in inclusion.
The SSAP further stressed that the major component of the National Disability Act is accessibility, highlighting that once accessibility is achieved, other related issues will be resolved.
Hon. Abba Isa declared that the unveiling of the AAP represents the start of the full implementation of the National Disability Act, as the 5-year moratorium for compliance has ended.
He added that the formation of the AAP aligns with the mandate given to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the inclusion of PWDs’ needs in government policies and programs.
According to him, the AAP will serve as a bridge between the government and society, pushing for the implementation of the National Disability Act in both public and private spaces.
